XFM-guided delivery of imaging-visible human mesenchymal stem cells into the pericardial space in a porcine model

چکیده
Background Transmyocardial delivery of stem cells in the setting of acute myocardial ischemia has shown promise to prevent adverse ventricular remodeling1. However, the efficacy is limited by poor cell retention and low survival rates, even for autologous cells. Intrapericardial delivery of microencapsulated stem cells may offer a local and minimally invasive route to enhance cell survival and retention. In this study, we assess the delivery of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) in a radiopaque microcapsule to the pericardium using x-ray fused with magnetic resonance imaging (XFM) in a porcine model.

Intrapericardial delivery of visible microcapsules containing stem cells using xfm (x-ray fused with magnetic resonance imaging)
Introduction Previously, we have demonstrated a technique to enhance survival of transplanted cells using XFM-visible microcapsules. However, theoretical concerns exist about the induction of arrhythmias if microcapsules are delivered to the heart by transendocardial injection. Delivery of these microcapsules to the pericardial space may provide an alternative approach with less potential for a...
متن کاملReconstructionof Human Mandibular Continuity Defects with Allogenic Scaffold and Autologousmarrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Background Mandibular continuity defects occur after tumor resection, maxillofacial injury, or osteomyelitis. Despite the current availability of a plethora of treatment modalities, bone substitutes, and various clinical adjuncts, an exact reconstructive recapitulation of large bony defects continues to be beyond reach. In this clinical pilot study, we report a novel method for reconstruction ...
متن کاملEvaluation of the effect of an intradermal injection of Wharton\'s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells in diabetic wound healing in animal model
Background: The application of mesenchymal stem cells in the healing of chronic wounds is one of the most challenging issues in cell therapy. The present study investigated the efficacy of intradermal injection of umbilical cord Wharton's Jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells in diabetic wound healing using ultrasound imaging in an animal model. Methods: During this experimental laboratory stud...
متن کاملIn-vitro Differentiation of Human Umbilical Cord Wharton’s Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells to Insulin-Producing Cells
Background & Objective: Diabetes is a major chronic metabolic disease in the world. Islet transplantation is a way to treat diabetes. Unfortunately, this method is restricted due to graft rejection and lack of donor islets. Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCS) have the ability to differentiate into Insulin-Producing Cells (IPCs). In this study, Human Umbilical Mesenchymal Stem Cells (HUMSCS) were in...
متن کاملEffect of Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells Transplantation on Nerve Fibers of A Rat Model of Endometriosis
Background Endometriosis is a common, benign, oestrogen-dependent, chronic gynaecological disorder associated with pelvic pain and infertility. Some researchers have identified nerve fibers in endometriotic lesions in women with endometriosis. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have attracted interest for their possible use for both cell and gene therapies because of their capacity for self-renewal ...
